You haven't said what plugins you're using. That is key when debugging issues like this. If I had to guess, it's an out of date plugin messing up.
Best guess is that you're running out of ram. Try freeing some up with sync /sbin/sysctl vm.drop_caches=3 You may be hitting the connection...
