Yes I know Hamachi can cause problems with Bukkit... but it's the only way I can run my server.

I do believe it is possible though isn't it? I just wanted to see if anyone on here might have a solution.

Each time I try to join I get a "string length received is less than zero" error. Or "Bad packet id" but usually the first one.

My system specs will follow. Thank you for your time.

    OS: Windows Vista SP1 64-bit (x86)
RAM: 6GB 30-37% used by Vista on startup.... (stupid Vista)
    Bukkit: Latest Recommended Build (#733)
system.properties: server ip is blank, port=25565, allow-flight=true (fence glitch), monsters=false, animals=false, pvp=false [these are all of the things I have changed]
    Minecraft Beta 1.5_02

I'm not 101% sure but I believe this error pertains to version.

Are you trying to connect to an updated server with an out dated client?

What version of Bukkit are you running?
    What version is your Client?
    Post the error you receive.

Other than the fact that the server is Beta 1.5_02 and the client (I assume that means Minecraft?) is 1.5_01 (which is insignificant) it is not outdated.

    Bukkit: Build 733 (git-Bukkit-0.0.0-702-g02216c1-b735jnks <MC:1.5_02>
    Minecraft Beta 1.5_01
Errors: Minecraft crashes OR "String length received is less than zero" disconnect.GenericReason.

    What plugins are you running?

    1. What OS are you using (Brand and version - Ex. Windows XP SP3)?
    Windows Vista SP 1
    2. What architecture is the OS you are running (x64 or x86)?
    64-bit (x86)
    3. What version and architecture is your java install? (Type: java -version in command prompt.)
    Java 6 Update 24

    4. Are you running any wrappers? McMyAdmin, mcadmin, Hamachi, etc?
Yes. Hamachi as previously stated. And no I cannot change that.
    5. What build of CraftBukkit are you running? (do NOT say latest. Say the build number.)
    Build 735
    6. What command are you using to run your CraftBukkit server?
RUN.bat (with %ProgramFiles(x86)%) The server runs fine. I can't connect.
    7. What plugins are you running?
    None at all.
    8. What error are you getting (post your server.log file if possible)?
Most commonly I am getting "string length received is longer than accepted" or "string length received is less than zero"
    9. What have you tried already?
    -Using blank Server-Ip
    -Using Server-IP with Hamachi IP
-Allowed 25565 TCP/UDP in Windows Firewall along with programs Minecraft and Hamachi.
-Tried multiple builds of Bukkit (most test builds leading up to 733 and 735)
-Tried installing a couple plugins. Didn't work. Removed them.

Hopefully this is all of the information you will need.

Edit: Couldn't upload server log. Didn't show up in upload browsing window. File may be too big? I could try clearing it, getting the error a couple times then uploading it. Let me know.

I think I may have just located the source of the problem.

Do you know what the new sign limit is in Beta 1.5? How many characters on one line?

"received string length is larger than maximum allowed" might involve signs. We have a lot of signs on our server back from 1.4 that might have more characters than accepted. Let me know what you think. Thanks for your help.

-The full error is: "Internal Exception: jave.io.IOException: Received string length is less than zero! Weird String!"
