    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Amazing plugin, works beautifully. I can't think of any features it needs added.

Finally! Great stuff and thank you for the port!

    1. Can the local chat distance be set?
    2. Could you add the possibility of channel-restrictions based on groups in Permissions? Like in the 'old' CC, some channels are only accessible by people of a certain group + higher up.
    3. Is there any way you could add an Admin-Broadcast Channel? A channel which every user listens to, can never leave, cannot speak in, except if he is an Admin (or whichever group is the highest group in Permissions).

    Thank you again!

HeroCraft fully endorses this developer and plugin. Thank you for creating the best Chat plugin EVER!\

GMK - those are on the horizons - we're waiting for the "Permissions" to be set.

Also if you missed it. This chat plugin has the ability to QUICK chat to other channels despite not being 'focused' on those channels. For instance, if you want to talk to OFF TOPIC while in the TRADE channel - you would simply do /o MSG instead of having to do /ch o ... wait .... 'msg'
    --- merged: Jan 26, 2011 4:59 PM ---
The more I test this - the more I understand that its already in and working - the SUFFIX section is giving it problems - so leave SUFFIX's blank. This should be fixed later.
There are several fixes we'll be implementing - channels will be hardcoded to their color - ie trade would be GREEN for our server - the only color differences will be the actual users name/prefix.

I'll think about adding this - no guarantees though. At the moment it is fixed at 100 blocks.

    This will be added.

    This will be added

My current top priority is ironing out some small bug fixes.

I am in love with you guys right now, seriously. I have been waiting for a plugin like this for so long. The other chat channels just doesn't cut it and do what I want it to do.

Its plug and play. Installed it and wahlah. No problems. Thanks!

What is the color code for yellow?

    DThielke

    Released a minor update.

    Changelog:
    Version 1.1
    • Added the /ch reload command
    • Improved suffix support
    • Improved multi-line message support
    • Various minor bug fixes

Thanks for the support. Color codes are the same as found on this page, except that instead of using letters for light green through white, the numbers just keep counting up to 15. Yellow, therefore, is 14.

    Love it so far!

To add to my list of requests:

    1. A notification if someone talks on local and noone hears him, so people are made aware of being local
    2. Can a Tag be added to the local channel? Currently it is the nick immediately, without a way to have a channel tag beforehand, making people not realise we now have chat channels ;)
    3. Any way to have the channel tag colored, but the main message text white?

    4. And, of course, a usergroup based list of channels to join, so guests join channel 1 and 2, mods join those two but also a hidden staff-channel, and so on. I know you want to add it, but will probably wait for the proper bukkit permissions system. It can wait ;)

    Great work!

Addendum: It seems that with HeroChat no chat at all is being shown in the console. It transmits fine via CraftIRC, but the console is blank.

The next fixes will be for:
    1) A logging system (or at the very least it be found in the server.log)
    2) console output
    3) user based chats - we're still waiting for permissions to be solidified.
    --- merged: Jan 27, 2011 2:08 PM ---
No - you do not need iChat. This is a stand-alone chat plugin.

            <colorCode>15</colorCode>

            <hidden>false</hidden>
            <forced>true</forced>
            <local>false</local>
Still gives lowercase letters for channel prefixes, even with them set as capitals.

Hi, very nice plugin, love it but I've a question :

Is there a way to let players create closed channels to make dissidents clans? (nobody can join the channel without invitation from channel admin)

    I explain :

-- [GEN] is general chat, Player1 and Player2 are together --

    [gen]Player1: Hey Player2, let's talk in a safe place...
[gen]Player1: /ch create ASSHOLES CLAN1 [color:#] (I don't want them to be able to use: [hidden] [forced] [auto] and [local] ::: [hidden] is always false, [forced] is always false, [auto] is always false and [local] is always true)
You are now admin of the CLAN1 Channel.
    Default channel set to CLAN1
    Player1: /ch invite Player2
-> Question sent to Player2: Player1 is inviting you in his channel: CLAN1, do you accept ? (type /ch yes CLAN1 to accept or /ch no CLAN1 to deny)
    [gen]Player2: /ch yes CLAN1
    Joined channel CLAN1
    Default channel set to CLAN1
Player2: Ok, let's go blablabla this fuc$*รน castle and blablabla steal all the gold they have.
    Player3 arrives...
[gen]Player3: /CLAN1 Hey guys, what is this channel about? I want to be in !
Player1: /GEN No problem, we need soldiers.
    Player1: /ch invite Player3
-> Question sent to Player3: Player1 is inviting you in his channel: CLAN1, do you accept ? (type /ch yes CLAN1 to accept or /ch no CLAN1 to deny)
    [gen]Player3: /ch yes CLAN1
    Joined channel CLAN1
    Default channel set to CLAN1
    Player4 walk around...
Player1: /GEN Hey Player4, you are in? We need you !
[gen]Player4: Not sure, don't want to die...
    Player1: /ch invite Player4
-> Question sent to Player4: Player1 is inviting you in his channel: CLAN1, do you accept ? (type /ch yes CLAN1 to accept or /ch no CLAN1 to deny)
    [gen]Player4: /ch no CLAN1
-> Message sent to Player1: Player4 deny the offer.

    etc, etc, etc.

    True story !

Anyway, do you see what I mean? Is a thing like this possible ?

And sorry if this explanation sucks, English is not my mother language.

Yes - but I dont believe this is the direction we want to go - we'll see. It's easier to just make a channel hidden - and then tell people the name of it.

Just released a major under-the-hood update resulting in much more organized code and a few new features.

    Version 2.0
    • Massive restructuring of code
    • Redone config files - make sure to read the new configuration section
    • Channel moderation added (/ch kick, /ch ban, /ch mod)
    • Custom message formatting added
    • More bug fixes

Of course it's easier but in this case players can't join a group without knowing the channel name. It imply that the players know each others already. This is just a feature I would love to see released but I agree, it's not really important, it just add realism.

@DThielke: Thanks for the update !

    Great new changes, thank you!

One thing: the "{color.COLOR}" seems to not work, if I e.g. set

    {color.YELLOW}[{nick}] {color.WHITE}{prefix}{player}{suffix}{color.CHANNEL}:

then the [{nick}] is still the same color as color.CHANNEL and not yellow, and it also seems like there is no way to make the text/message white, no matter the color of the channel name.

tl;dr: Channel nick and message text are always of the same color and unchangable currently.

Also, is there a way to make hidden channels *not* show in your list of joined channels? That way I could create a broadcast channel that everyone is in, but only those that know the name can send via. If it shows that you are in it, the purpose is a little moot ;)

@GmK, I'll look into the nickname coloring in a minute. As far as coloring the actual message text, that is working as intended. You should not be able to change the color of the the message itself (enforced conformity).

I'll do as you suggest prevent listing hidden channels even if you're in them until I add a legit alert type channel.
    --- merged: Jan 28, 2011 4:28 PM ---
Minor update. Custom message formatting works now (I had accidentally left in an extra line for testing purposes that was overriding the config file).

    Version 2.1
    • Fixed bug so that message formatting works properly
    • Hidden channels are now hidden from the channel list even if you're in them

What's the channel create format? I tried the one listed in the /ch create command and it didn't work
    I tried:
    /ch create GLOBAL auto color:green
    and nothing happened.

I havent checked to see is it possible - I know you can make user names different colors based on groups currently under Permissions - is it possible to do it for just the USERS? ie i want someone in the default group to have yellow (So I change their area but not the entire group's color)

@Xemnas33, I see two issues with your command. Firstly, you're missing a nickname. The first two parameters must be <name> <nick> as stated in the help. Secondly, when setting a color via in-game commands as you are, you use a number, not a color. The numbers correspond to the color list in my original post, with BLACK starting at 0 and WHITE ending at 15. What you're looking for would be something like /ch create GLOBAL G auto color:2. However, note that global is already a channel in the default config, so if you haven't modified my config you will get a duplicate error using this command.

@Kainzo, This is on my TODO list. Currently prefixes and suffixes are only checked based on permission groups, not individuals.

Weird this has got offtopic set as default and yet I haven't touched it :S Also it was the first post that confused me over colours because it's got them listed in writing so I wasn't sure. I also got confused where it said NAME TAG wasn't sure if this was 2 seperate parameters or just 1.

Thanks for clearing that all up :)
