Disappointment.

We, as the Bukkit community, make this project run. If the community was not here, there would be no Bukkit.
With that being said, one could assume that community should be listened to. Looking at this thread, I'm seeing @Musaddict 's feedback being totally shot down and disregarded. More recently however, I'm seeing @DrBowe 's VALID and MEANINGFUL post get deleted. I mean this thread: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/example-plugin-request-formatting-formatted.46919/page-2

It appears that Baxter "cleaned the thread" because the COMMUNITY (yeah, that mythical thing that makes this project work)'s opinion wasn't what the staff was looking for.

Instead of deleting valueable feedback and opinions, how about you USE them to make this project better? I've seen a lot of angry people around here lately, including myself. I know I am not the kindest or smartest or the most mature, however, this is where I draw the line.

This project seems to have taken a step in the wrong direction. I'm not entirely sure what the intent of this thread is, but I'm angry.

For future reference (because you know, @mbaxter seems to be deletion happy), this is how @mbaxter responded.

Being in the rules and enforcing it are two completely different things. Not that I'm arguing the concept, I'm fine with the rule--but trying to cover it up as 'Oh well we've been enforcing this since the beginning of time' is just silly.

There are several examples in history of where people chose to 'clean up' what wasn't on their agenda, none of them were particularly pleasant. Instead of deleting this post as well, perhaps you could actually reply to my comment?

Or rather, explain to me why you felt it necessary to delete a perfectly fine post simply because it was 'off topic'--of course leaving yourself with the last word that essentially states: "No, there was no change of face, this guy is blowing smoke out of his arse, don't listen to him, listen to me"

First of all, attempting to compare my removal of your derailing posts is not the Holocaust, nor a Great Purge or any of the other tragedies of history you were implying there. That is an extremely low blow and highly offensive. Your opinion was not silenced. I clearly stated that you should come to this topic as it's where we have been discussing the issue but instead you felt you had to have the last, misleading, word in a topic.

There was zero change in policy or enforcement; there have been topics removed for offering money since the beginning of the project. Did some requests slip through because we can't watch all places at all times? Yes. Did a topic by a non-staff member become sticky that implied payment was ok? Yes. Did we acknowledge this mistake and explain that we are only human? Yes.

While I do appreciate you actually migrating and re-posting those things, the point remains that I intended for the first one to stay right where it was. I'd rather not have the last word in that thread implying I'm a misinformed, misleading person--but that's the way it looks right now.

And honestly, do you expect me to believe that you had any intentions of moving that first post until I made a fit about it in the second post? Because I sure as hell don't believe it.

My suggestion on the matter would be this:
Don't move my post in the first place. You take it completely out of context. I wanted it to stay there, you clearly did not. Throwing it under the vast rug of 'off topic, derailing' is rubbing salt in the wounds.

Moving a thread is one thing, moving a post into a thread is another. I'm happy you revised it, though still not happy about everything in general. And, as much as I'd like to believe you about your plans to move it--I don't.

Because I am a skeptic when it comes to these sorts of things. Pragmatic, if you will. Why would moving that post from one thread to another--where all context would be lost--make any sense? It wouldn't. You even stated in the post on the thread you moved it to "the conversation DrBowe feels must happen here", which doesn't give me the impression that you planned on moving it to begin with.

But hey, innocent until proven guilty, and this is the internet. There is no proof. So I guess you've cleaned your slate, congratulations. I'm overjoyed that you were able to come up with a story (that may or may not be true) about the strange disappearance (and eventual reappearance) of my post.

I am sorry for the brash response towards @mbaxter, but I was merely trying to inform him of how irrational he appeared. Saying I have a low image of him isn't harassment (again, I'm sorry if THAT is what you consider harassment), but in reality, he has only harassed me (in some respects), which is why I was expressing my impression of him.

I had no intentions of harassing staff, only clearing up what seemed to be a misunderstanding. I'd like to think that most of my thoughts on this have been relatively civil--if only a bit acerbic due to my heightened state of frustration throughout all this.

Assuming that any of that post was directed at me, I just wanted to clarify that.

Please stop acting like such a dick. The whole bukkit team works non-stop trying to improve our playing experience, and they have a right to moderate the forums how they want. Tbh I don't see anything wrong with what they do, I appreciate them hugely for keeping the community held together and managing such a large project so well.
