Thanks for taking the time to write this LONG post... and I DID read it ;)

and I think I speak for all of the people in THIS thread that we highly value the work the bukkit team is doing.. and probably for most others too... at least those people who don't post 5 seconds after a new minecraft is out where the update of CB is...

the information you posted above is enough for me to understand the issues around fill and it gives us an idea what is happening and I highly appreciated the insight into what is happening.

so a short question asked which only needs a short answer, keeping in mind that I have no idea how fill will look like, when it will come and how xenforo does work internally

would it be a lot of work to create a forum next to the plugin release forum and call it plugin help, post a sticky off guidelines of using it and let the moderators swing a draconian sword to move the threads into the new direction and would it make sense?

ok it was longer but the answer can be short, honestly. just yes or no

I will go on vacation for 2 weeks, yeah I know real life it happens to all of us, but I promise that when I'm back I would be available to help if you need some drudge (?) work being done and I think others would like to help to.

I know how hard it is to run a good forum and herd a bunch of people with different ideas.. I did run my own and I did participate for a long time in a vendor forum as sysop with around 400 posts every week being done by myself to help people along..

hmm I think I'm rambling incoherent stuff.. sorry for that..

Just support BukGet, I'm already 89% done, all that is left is uninstalling / batch updating / a few quirks.

So basically what you have written here is the Backend for plugin management. So if Fill is scrapped and BukGet takes it's place all we need here is a Frontend to browse/view/sort/discuss the plugins?

cyberdude: The backend is ALREADY written. Niji is writing the client-side plugin for bukkit. for more information please visit bukget.org

Though, unlike Fill, bukget wouldn't actually solve this issue of support/release threads.

lukegb: correct. Bukget's aim right now is to provide a functional plugin management tool, not to provide a support architecture for plugin devs to support their plugins. Thats what the forums are for or various other tools for tracking bugs, issues, etc.

Yeah, Fill seems to have the reverse aim. It's a support architecture, but with plugins download as an addon feature.

@Killie01 its designed to be a repository framework for handling multiple versions of plugins as well as dependency and conflict handling. There is also a server wrapper called baskit that handles craftbukkit builds, backups, snapshots, and server management.

that help would be in the plugin release thread itself unfortunatly... there is a search option on the right side below the subject of the thread if you want to search in the thread.

if you don't find anything read at least the first post and the last 3 pages to see if it is a common recent problem..
