You can unmark it as site-agnostic, or just make dev.bukkit.org ignore the WoW-Includes.

Edit: You can use CSS to hide the WoW content, too.

Thank you! This is the kind of information we need. Keep us updated, on the front page, somewhere where we can read it. All of us are only getting bits and pieces of information because the few message that comes from the Team are scattered around, and very vague. The exact message you write here is the exact kind of message I would love to see more of from the Team, preferably posted on the front page. Let us know that you are reading, help us structure our ideas and requests into fewer topics. Tell us where to submit ideas, where to submit complaints and where we can post other nonsense. Help us help you. I certainly don't expect the Team members to respond to all posts. But frontpage news where you keep us updated is all I'm asking for. The more you leave us in silence, the more of the same threads and posts will pop up, the more work you have to do.
Communication and information is essential for us(And you)! It's been the same over and over again. All we ask for is communication from the Team, front page. You (The team) have admitted it several times, and last time you promised it would change. But we are not seeing this change. Write to us, anything on the frontpage. 2 lines of text frontpage is better than 100's of hissyfit posts scattered all over the place.

    • Add Sec/Admin/Fun/etc at the bottom of the icons for plugin types. No point in using lame icons that the current userbase and anyone else browsing the actual site won't understand right away.
    • Download Stats.
    • Ajax search filters, but you still have plugins.bukkit.org which is a much better interface for searching.
    • If you're going to finally force a single database for plugins, you'd best be making an plugin update for this, or help the existing plugin(s).

The icons are temporary, they were all blank during testing so some icons were mocked up before it went live to at least make it look more appealing. I understand they don't really describe the categories that they are meant to represent. You can mouse over the icons to find out the real description of the category, however images that better describe the categories are preferred and in the works.

By download stats do you just mean download count? If so then they're already available on the file page, if you want something more then can you explain what else you would like and I can pass the information on. However no guarantees.

I'll pass on the idea of possibly adding some AJAX to the search page, I kind of agree here as I've grown use to PBO that I'm expecting it to search and filter as I type/select.

"If you're going to finally force a single database for plugins, you'd best be making an plugin update for this, or help the existing plugin(s)." -- Can you explain more on this? I'm not sure I understand.

This is the deal, Curse is hosting it on their servers, paying the fee's for bandwidth and dividing the load amongst their servers.

Sounds like a stupid deal, seeing Bukkit has no income for Curse to take a share off and no advertisements, right?

The profit for Curse lies in the network-wide community power they gain from it. Those links, to be exact. People who play WoW may click them and join "the curse family". People may get accustomed to it and prefer sites that are part of Curse's network.

There'd be no point for curse to keep BukkitDev on their servers if they'd remove the references and integrations like that one.

Unless they just genuinely like Bukkit for what it is and want to give it as much freedom as possible!

They may keep a reference to their site, but they CAN disable WoW-only content that just seems strange on a minecraft site. Or they can replace the global content and create a more fitting replacement on non-WoW-sites. Or both.

There are some issues on the side:
    - On some systems (my home computer, for example) it shows I'm logged in on every page except the start page. If that's the case the login link on the start page doesn't work.
    - Sometimes it shows readed PMs as new in the state bar (on the upper, right side).

If possible, integrate it more into the normal bukkit site. For example: let users see their alerts from the bukkitdev on their bukkitforums account.

Also, if you are going to remove these threads for plugins in the future, DON'T just remove them. Migrate them into the new system or else a part of the plugins (and thus a part of the community) will disappear.

    That's the point
You should provide a way to migrate and ot link from bukkit Forums
Re-creating projects and pages won't help people (like me) who're lost in this huge, messy, a little far of the Bukkit Environment we used to know, thing.

    Also some last questions :
Why do you change everyhting ?
Did it have issues or something ?
Curse proposed that and you saied "yes why not ?" or there were a problem somewhere ?

    And to finish
Has the Bukkit Forums a future with BukkitDev and no more plugins part ?

The problem is/was that bukkit run out of resources. The server(s) couln't handle the large ammount of requests and started to become unstable.

Why don't use others servers instead of using another way of beeing ?

Also I realised that there were no-more way to search plugins from bukkit.org
the plugins.bukkit.org is looking at the BukkitDev
Is there a way to look for bukkit forums plugins for the moment ?

It's all a question of money. New resources cost money and at some point donations aren't enough to pay them. Curse give them for free...

They are a company, quit dreaming :p

Use the forum specific search ;)

Also, guys, I think they already are experimenting with integrations (minor ones). Look at staff accounts.

For searching for plugins on the forums you can use http://p.thedgtl.net until the Bukkit search is pointing back here.

And a question, when I created a project it said it won't Syndicate until a file is uploaded. Will I be able to have it show in search while still hosting my files externally? I'm not going to be uploading any builds to Curse.

Is there a way we can get a part of the new site to be made that allows new Dev's to get feedback on plugins that may be recursions of older plugins, that way we don't have 1000 MOTD plugins clogging up the releases, this way they would still be able to get the feedback they need and allow them to gain experience without pissing off all the other experienced Dev's that are annoyed by seeing tons of recursion.

EvilSeph approved TimeShift's project before I had posted files, and it appeared to me that it was appearing in the list, however, I am not certain that I checked this when logged out, and I know I didn't check through the plugin search page.

Ranking is determined (or appears to be determined) by the last file upload or project creation, so not uploading new builds will cause your plugin(s) to eventually always be near the bottom of the list.

We're looking into ways of easing the change and the ability to receive notifications from Bukkit Dev.

As far as I know the threads/forums won't be removed from the plugin section for at least a good few weeks whilst the kinks in the new system are being worked out and to give plugin developers time to move their projects over and get use to the system.

However there will come a time where the plugin forums will be locked and possibly removed in favour of the new system. If a project/plugin hasn't been moved over to the new system by then I'm sure most people will deem it as inactive or the developer is refusing to use the new system, either way we're in no position to create or 'import' that project for them as it's not how the system works.

We're working on a FAQ and Guide to help plugin developers migrate over to the new system, we understand that it is a huge change from working with forums to working with a system which has more settings and control that is even needed for basic plugin management.

Change was necessary, there was always this idea of a one stop shop for plugin developers to manage their projects. I'm not sure if you were around during the start of Bukkit, but there was always this talk of a project called 'Fill'. CurseForge/BukkitDev is that but it's using an already established system instead of building a new one from the ground up.

The Bukkit community is already using 2 REALLLLLLLY BEEFY machines which at times is struggling to handle the load.

The new http://plugins.bukkit.org was pushed live by accident and has been reverted back to its previous stated of searching the plugin forums. Sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, I'm sure there will be an announcement to the community when the final switch over occurs, to keep everyone up to date.

so can we use dropbox in bukkit dev? i like using dropbox becuase i can upload a updated version straight from eclipse. this makes my life easier but with bukkit dev it seems i need to use a new download link everytime. i dont feel like having to use another file hosting site like filefront.com. that takes like 2 minute to upload a file and then i need to upload it to bukkit dev & change all the build numbers/changelogs/etc. Bukkit-dev is gotta be the biggest mess going. so many redirects to different pages. how come we cant have everything on one page like normal? let me guess are the so called " upper class " devs like sk98q / afforess / nikojun / etc complaining they dont have enough area to work on?

    ways to improve bukkit-dev:
tutorial on how to use repositories
tutorial on how to setup a basic overview page with images

    Hi,

    I run a small server for some friends with about 40 plugins, with the old system I could jump on the forum, check my watched threads and get a quick look at what's going on. This new system makes it a major hassle to keep up with things. A favorites list or something needs to be implemented that does the following;

    1. Indicates when the author makes any changes to their info pages.

    2. Indicates if any new files have been posted ( I currently use the subscription for this and it seems to be working ok for now, but I'm seeing more and more authors wanting to host their files somewhere else so this won't be as effective later on).

    3. As for the comments, this should be disabled and the forum option used exclusively (Mainly to keep things organized).

    4. Indicates when there are new forum posts. Right now there are only about 10 of the plugins I use listed on bukkitdev so It's not to bad to find each one and check their forums, if they are turned on. BUT when all of them are listed It's gonna take too much time to go thru 40 plugins just see if someone posted a message. Oh, speaking of forums, there also needs to be an indication if someone replies to a message you posted.

If something like this can be added I believe that bukkitdev will work out for the best in the long run, but without this basic feature I think it's going to discourage allot of server admins from doing this, esp ones like me who have full time jobs and are just running the server as a hobby and for some friends, I won't have the time to this if I have to manually check EVERY plugin I run.

Anyway, that's my $0.02 worth. I really like that idea of bukkitdev, but it's just not server admin friendly.....

    Thanks,
    Grinch.......

PS. Just thought of this, can the bukkit team even make these kinds of changes to the system? Or are they limited to simple design changes like color and whatnot being that it's using curse's system???? If they can't make any major changes like this to the site then I don't think this is going to be a change for the good.........

As I was going through, I noticed that there is not really a wget friendly link to fetch the latest release of a plugin....
Something that is nice to have, for use in update scripts.
