So, I've had this server for a couple of months now, on 1.2.5. But I think it's time for change, and my server members agree, we should update to 12w25a. How would I do this? I can't manually swap the server files from 1.2.5 to 12w25a, because I'm using FileZilla to manually edit files. The server host I'm using is DaddyCheese, if that helps. Thanks. EDIT: I forgot to mention, on the control panel, the options for the server files are: CraftBukkit 1.2.5-R4.0 Default Default Minecraft Server Mod: CraftBukkit Mod: CraftBukkit 1.2.4 Recommended Build Mod: CraftBukkit 1.2.5 R1 Optimized Minecraft Server No option for the snapshots?
I haz a confuse. You can't copy the file over, stop the server, rename the old one, then rename the new one to the old one's original name?
Nope, because I can't delete the server .jar file within FileZilla because you can't actually see the file.
You probably need to contact your host then (assuming this isn't a pebcak issue); I'm surprised and disappointed they don't let you do this yourself.
I would check with them first and see if this isn't something that can be remedied, unless you just don't want DaddyCheese anymore. I've read a lot of bad things about RedstoneHost. If you get BeastNode, cut their recommended players number in half. That's probably the realistic number you can host when you really get your server up and running. I had them for a while and moved on because their memory limitations/pricing were too rigid. Currently I'm trying out a MyHosting.com VPS with 5GB RAM/20GB HD which came out to $32 a month (I included an extra 600GB of bandwidth). It's very speedy and so far I'm impressed. Also they have phone support which I value highly for figuring out just what the hell is wrong when something inevitably happens. If I had to do it all again, I'd buy a VPS. I'm well versed in using linux though, your mileage may vary. It really depends on how big your server is, how much work you want to do, and how much you want to spend.
