Woolplus is a simple easy to use mod that lets you dye wool in a more interesting manner than crafting. Players holding dye can dye wool simply by right clicking. You can mix colors just like the crafting combinations and there are additional combinations. You can even make brown wool. If you want to reset the dyed wools back to something like white, just apply white enough times to *bleach* it. Black for example, will dye everything black.

Heres a few combinations to try out
Yellow Wool + Red Dye = ???
Red Wool + Bone Meal = ???
Blue Wool + Cactus Green Dye = ???
Purple Wool + Pink Dye = ???

works good, but a few things are a bit wtf, like if i have a yellow wool and i use a white on it (which should me it lighter) it will turn dark?

But i like the plugin, good work!

 

What should the lighter colors turn into when combined with bone meal?
I picked Gray which probably wasn't the best choice but I wanted something to work towards 'white' again.

definitely adding to my server, but something i might request changed:
2 of any color = brown?
could this be changed to color + grey = brown? (or two conflicting colors)
so pink + pink = red
light gray + light gray = gray
gray + gray = black
yellow + green = lime
and color + same color = no action (above exceptions)

 

This is one plugin that I really like the concept of, but I think you've gotten some things not quite right. Basically, there are way, way too many combinations that make brown, most of which make no sense. I have to assume that you just used brown as a fallback colour, but that creates many nonsensical combinations.

First of all, if you can't think of a good result for a given combination, don't let it work at all. Second, dyeing wool with the colour it already has should never yield brown; with lighter colours it could yield the darker version of the colour, but with dark colours it should be disallowed (ie no dye is lost).

For the use of bleach (ie bone meal or white dye), I mostly like the results; however, bleaching brown to dark grey doesn't make any sense to me. It should instead result in orange (preferred) or yellow in my opinion; light grey or white would also be acceptable. Also, I would prefer if cyan were not counted as a shade of blue, so that bleaching dark blue yields light blue and bleaching cyan or light blue yields white, though I don't mind this choice that much. And finally, bleaching orange wool should probably yield white rather than dark grey.

All that aside, it's a pretty nice plugin which I was actually thinking of making myself. Who knows... perhaps I still will.

@Celtic Thanks for the feedback, I agree on the brown issue and shall rework the plugin

Next update of WoolPlus will include natural color combinations (Think of mixing paints). A little busy with mcMMO at the moment but I'll try to get an update done this week.

i was going to fork it at first, but you have all your plugins under the same project & i only wanted to play with this one..

 

Mm thats ok, I'll get around to adjusting woolplus sometime soon. Pretty busy with mcMMO atm though.

 

this is awesome! This will finally allow us to get brown wool!
and I love the idea of painting with this... I'm terrible at setting up and designing things before I go so I usually just wing it... I can probably make a large canvas of white wool armed with loads of dye to make pictures!! I never plan my paintings either, i just change things as I go to make it more interesting!

 

The better way to get brown wool is to dye it with cocoa beans. Your painting point is kinda valid, though.

 

You should really change that to "holding dye" because it can be confusing.

Nice plugin btw, this should be in the default minecraft since it's as "real" as coloring sheeps =)
