    PURPOSE
    This plugin outputs a JSON file containing player locations for use with various Minecraft mapping software.

    INSTALLATION
    1. Put MapMarkers.jar in your plugins folder
    2. Run your server once to generate a config file
    3. Edit plugins/MapMarkers/config.yml to your liking

    SETUP FOR MINECRAFT OVERVIEWER (Courtesy of FlukiestEmperor)
    0. Perform installation (see above)
    1. Edit MapMarkers.yml so that markers.json is placed in the same folder as your Minecraft Overviewer output
    Alternatively don't edit MapMarkers.yml, make a symlink (Linux):
    ln -s path/to/minecraft/server/bin/world/markers.json path/to/minecraft/map/markers.json
    2. Put player.png, player.php, and player_markers.js where the overviewer index.html is. (Optionally web_assets in your overviewer source directory)
    If you don't want to use player skins as the markers (requires PHP, allow_url_fopen, and ideally write permissions by your PHP user), copy player_markers_noskin.js and rename it to player_markers.js
    3. Add a line to your source overviewer index.html that reads:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="player_markers.js"></script>
    4. Run overviewer and everything should work

    SETUP FOR PIGMAP
    0. Perform installation (see above)
    1. Edit MapMarkers.yml so that markers.json is placed in the same folder as your Pigmap output
    Alternatively don't edit MapMarkers.yml, make a symlink (Linux):
    ln -s path/to/minecraft/server/bin/world/markers.json path/to/minecraft/map/markers.json
    2. Put player.png, player.php, and player_markers_old.js where the pigmap HTML is.
    If you don't want to use player skins as the markers (which requires PHP, allow_url_fopen, and ideally write permissions by your PHP user), copy player_markers_noskin_old.js and rename it to player_markers.js
    3. Add two lines to your source template.html that reads:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="player_markers.js"></script>
    4. Run pigmap and everything should work

    CONFIGURATION
    plugins/MapMarkers/config.yml contains all settings

    saveInterval (default 3000): How often to output the markers, in milliseconds
    outputFile (default world/markers.json): Where to place the output file
    dateFormat (default yyyyMMdd HH:mm:ss): How to format timestamps in the output JSON.
    writeSpawn (default false): Whether or not to place spawn markers (one for each world) in the output.

    CHANGELOG
    0.3.4:
    • Fixed for new configuration and event handling (Now works in 1.1-R6 and 1.2-betawhatever)
    0.3.3:
    • Updated quit event signature (fixes the nag errors)
    • Updated player_markers.js for the latest version of Overviewer. Pigmap and old versions of Overviewer are in the _old suffix (unchanged from 0.3.2)
    • Readme file contains the right instructions pointing to the new config location.
    0.3.2:

    • Properly included player_markers_noskin.js in the zip
    • Fixed a bug in player.php
    • Config file is now located in plugins/MapMarkers/config.yml. The plugin will automatically create the folder/file as necessary.
    • JSON output now includes world name instead of GUID.
    0.3.1:

    • Removed the constructor for compatability with new versions of Bukkit.
    • Plugin now handles player teleport events.
    • Timer now uses the bukkit scheduling stuff instead of a separate thread.
    0.3:

    • JSON output now has IDs indicating the marker type
    • Optional spawn markers (see config file)
    • JSON output includes world GUID
    • Player skins as can be used as icons
    FUTURE(Possible features)
    • Easy multiworld support.
    • Commands to add custom markers
    • Server weather and time
    • Player-controlled hiding of their position.
    • Zoom-to-player and track player

    I cant get it to work. So I try to explain what I've done:
    -placing the mapmarkers.jar into Bukkit\plugins
    -configurating the config.yml -> link to wwwroot\live\tiles\markers.json (tiles is the standart output folder of overviewer)
    -place the player.png, player.php, and player_markers.js into wwwroot\live\
    -edit the index.html to add the script

    >Problem is that nothing happend while the plugin is loaded.
    - We are using CB 433 + MapMarkers v0.3(also tried 0.3.1 and 0.3.2)

    Does markers.json contain anything when there are players on the server?

    I had the same issue and it was because I forgot to enable PHP in Apache when I rebuilt the server. To test it out create a file named test.php or something in your webroot that just contains:
    Code:
    <?php
    phpinfo();
    ?>
    Now try to browse to that and see if you get back just the code or your server's php configuration information.

    Edit: sry I get the info. So php is active.

    Do you have the GD library installed? That was my issue?

    @TJ09, do you think we could have a /mapmarker hide function enabled? And have it persist until /mapmarker show is selected?

    I'm actually about to update my server to #556 right now, so I'll be figuring out what broke soon.

    EDIT: Just upgraded to #556 and MapMarkers seems to still work.

    Uh, that error seems to be wanting the StupidlyLongConstructorThing that was deprecated a while back. Are you sure you're using Bukkit #556?

    Is there actually any multiworld support?

    I read you are implementing it in some form but doesn't appear to be usable yet.

    Were using this with Addon to MapMarkers by datLicht in This Post as mentioned we wanted a players list also.

    Heads are shown on the main world even when there in another world which is really confusing and frustrating.

    [{"timestamp":"20110325 14:56:10","id":4,"z":7.56785535852635,"msg":"drguild","y":68.0,"world":"nether","x":5.69999998807907}]

    Is there a way to solve this with overviewer?

    We are planning to run 6-7 worlds beeing:

    Hub
    Survival
    Creative
    Main
    Nether
    Mining
    Mby a guest box

    Our Overvewer We are only rendering our default test world atm.

    I and players won't always be another world.

    The JSON output has multiworld support (See: "world":"nether" in what you copied), but player_markers.js doesn't have anything multiworld specific. Mainly because I wasn't sure how to set up overviewer to handle multiple worlds.

    I currently have something hacked together on my overviewer installation. I have three separate overviewer maps that are linked together by player_markers.js, and I modified the markers function to ignore anything but the current world:
    http://minecraft.technoized.com/
    http://minecraft.technoized.com/player_markers.js <--ignore the warp stuff, that's from hmod days.
    http://minecraft.technoized.com/style.css <--Styling for the world select bar.
    http://minecraft.technoized.com/world.js <--Specifies the current world name, used by player_markers.js. Could probably be done in index.html, but that gets overwritten. See also: http://minecraft.technoized.com/arena/world.js and http://minecraft.technoized.com/skylands/world.js

    You should make a video tutorial for everybody and post it on err forum here.

    Wow looks good and what we want to do but allow the Lighted/Night maps also per world and a playerlist.

    If you could clean that up to something and make a tutorial it would be great for all of us with multiworlds as we will have like 6 but want mby 3 rendered.

    Your index.html comment for overviewer you can do it in template and I think it should be fine.

    I have a question/ comment /suggestion for mutli world, is it possible to modify the template to only look for the specified world name and then have a separate instance of pigmap run with that template? So i have 3 worlds, i set up 3 pigmap folders one for each world with the separate outputs, the template for the ouput index.html is then set up to only look for the for the tag world1 in the common json file?

    This also no longer works with build 602.

    ok sorry, was probably my fault. must have confused something with the files, it worked after i just downloaded bukkit #556 again.
    BUT now the recommended build changed to #602 yesterday and now that one really isn't working:

    thanks for your time and effort dude ;-)

    EDIT: interestingly now with #612 it is working again, at least i don't get any error messages when starting it. however, #612 doesn't seem to be working with 1.4 yet so let's just wait for the first recommended build that supports 1.4 :)

    That's actually exactly what I'm doing with my player_markers.js: I have Overviewer generate four separate maps, and then I modified player_markers to ignore markers not from the current world.

    The relevant line is "if(item.world != world) continue;", and you need the world.js setup I have for all instances of Overviewer/Pigmap.

    The console sends me this message to rely to you:

    Code:

    Pardon my confusion, but this plugin is called "MapMarkers" does this mean we can mark the map with locations of our choosing? The description merely mentions player locations, so i'm guessing no? This is more of a player location plugin I'm guessing?

    if this would have the hide player command from dynmap
    to hide some team members on the map I would fall in love with this plugin <3

    Changes has been made in minecraft-overviewer, heres a quick fix:

    player_markers.js
    Code:
    var playerMarkers = null, warpMarkers = [];

    function deletePlayerMarkers() {
      if (playerMarkers) {
        for (i in playerMarkers) {
          playerMarkers[i].setMap(null);
        }
        playerMarkers = null;
      }
    }

    setInterval(loadPlayerMarkers, 1000 * 15);
    setTimeout(loadPlayerMarkers, 1000);

    function preparePlayerMarker(marker,item) {
        var c = "<div class=\"infoWindow\" style='width: 300px'><img src='player.php?"+item.msg+"'/><h1>"+item.msg+"</h1></div>";
        var infowindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow({content: c});
        google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() {
            infowindow.open(overviewer.map,marker);
        });
    }

    function loadPlayerMarkers() {
        $.getJSON('markers.json', function(data) {
            deletePlayerMarkers();
            playerMarkers = [];
            for (i in data) {
                var item = data[i];
                if(item.id != 4) continue;
                var marker =  new google.maps.Marker({
                    'position':    overviewer.util.fromWorldToLatLng(item.x,item.y, item.z),
