Mojang have just released an update for Minecraft, bringing us to Minecraft 1.1.

Along with several bug fixes, this update provides the following:
    • Bow Enchantments
    • Golden Apple recipe
    • New language translations.
    • Slightly smoothed color transitions between biomes
    • Reduced brewing time to 20 seconds
    • Added spawn eggs to creative (the colors of the eggs even look like the mobs)
    • Added world type options (currently only super-flat and default)
    • Removed collision box from ladders
    • Sheep eat grass and regain their wool
While you wait for us to release an update, check out this video for a sneak peek on what Minecraft 1.1 has to offer:

Please try and advise your users not to update or they will likely not be able to connect to your server. If you would like to help us out with the update process, you can hop on our IRC chat on irc.esper.net @ #bukkit and report any bugs you come across (both Minecraft and Bukkit bugs when we have a compatible development build out).

This is just a short announcement to let you know that we are aware of this and are working on it as I type this.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. As always, we'll have a development build out as soon as possible to support this update and will follow with an RB when we feel it is ready.

That's sad. I wonder if it also removed the colors on my iChatPlayerList plugin hmm... Will test it this weekend.
    Highlight the above line.

For folks looking for builds, check out Jenkins. Just setup build 1719 vanilla (no mods). Works well so far.

Yes. A player on my server is having the same problem. Nobody else on the server is having the problem. That tells my it's client-side. What's your OS? What do you have for a video card? Java version?

Thumbs up to the Dev team for pushing out that saveDefaultConfig() method for plugins. You're my heroes!

actually, there wasn't a minecraft 1.0.1. There was a 1.0.1 server, but that server software was still for Minecraft 1.0

It really sucks not being able to play with friends, because of this update... and essentially the update was just a collection of a few bukkit plugins...Essentials "Spawnmob", and the many Flat World generators... :(

My hate was more with the user base in general rather than admins/plugin authors pouring their time and effort into providing fun, secure places to play. It's just a bit discouraging when it seems over 85% of the people who walk through my server doors aren't exactly there to play Minecraft, most are malicious and there to exploit systems, grief, chat about unrelated topics, they aren't playing to contribute to the world map. They enter the server immediately ask who is owner, why can't I see the plugin list? And how exactly can I kiss your ass Mr. Admin so I can be OP one day? And I run a semi private server.... I can only imagine the horror stories. I don't want to know! It's very discouraging.

I was only trying clear up to CrashNT that MC is a game about punching wood, and the game will always be a game about.. punching wood. No matter how many amazing plugins are developed under bukkit its still a silly game about punching wood. Thinking otherwise is highly hypocritical in my view.

I admit I came off as cocky, I'm ill at moment and probably shouldn't be on forums expressing my half thought out opinions to people here to download 1.1 server software.

As far as quitting the conversation and attacking his grammar skills. That's all I feel I should give to him at this time.
Responding to him a serious manner would only lengthen this pointless exchange. You on the other hand deserve a polite response.

And thank you bukkit team for your hard work. I'll shut up from now on.

Can I upgrade without wiping the map? I remember having problems with the map when I upgraded from 1.6 to 1.7 or something like that.

It shouldn't ever wipe your map. You might encounter terrain glitches with some updates, however.

I'm assuming, based on how it's worded, that these biome updates will be passive and will simply cause a smoother color transition at the edges.

P.S. Should anyone still need the files to revert to 1.0.0, I have the files in my server's forum.

It's safe. The map seeds are almost identical. Some places have changed biomes tho. Like a guy built this huge farm in a forest, and he sent a ticket saying his water is freezing now. Lol.. :/

Last time I had problems my map had chunks that looked as if they had a different seed.

It must be a client side problem because it happens for me too. I even deleted my .minecraft and re-downloaded it but the problem won't go away.
I have Windows Vista and Java 7 :/

Hopefully Soon. you wouldn't think it, but reading chat without color is extremely difficult. Especially on big servers with color coded groups :(
