Can somebody fetch me a build of bukkit that will work for Minecraft beta 1.7.3?

The maven repo (repo.bukkit.org) should have builds older than those on dl.bukkit.org

    EDIT: Yep, look under legacy->org->bukkit->craftbukkit->0.0.1-SNAPSHOT

Haha, right you are, sir. 1.7.3 was the very *last* good Minecraft version released. I'm missing it so much that I'm actually setting up a server myself now. Let's see if it's as successful as the others... knowing some players I'm sure it will catch a little bit of interest at least. ;)

It's a personal opinion and a lot of people rightfully disagree with me, but 1.7.3 was the lats good update mostly because of the hunger bar. I also noticed a lot of unnecessary changes within the menu system; a lot of options which seem...well... unnecessary. I say this mostly because knowing the [commands] exist means a change in the code and that ultimately means some form of decreased performance - all for the sake of some fancy function. There's also the lack of in-game [F]og toggle, a function I love to use during recording but now have to use a mod to get back; quite frankly going into the option menu to adjust it during recording is a no-go. Speaking of performance, have you tried 1.3.1 yet? Enough said. Though people are having very mixed experiences, it's a pretty awful performance update IMHO. Version 1.4 will surely resolve that knowing that's the build the bukkit team (and all modders) are anxiously waiting for.

These are all my personal opinions, take them as they are and kindly don't judge me for it. I simply don't like the direction Minecraft took from 1.8.x and beyond. Though I *DO* love the Creative mode toggle command though.... :(

I suspect you honestly didn't really care why, but simply wanted to challenge me because you think I made a silly statement. Fair enough. I do have my valid reasons though. Valid enough for me. :)

Sorry if I seem biassed. Just a fan of the "classic" MC experience. @jeb_ bring back alpha-grass ;(

Yes and it worked perfectly fine. I'm not saying it was bugless but I couldn't reproduce the lag people were getting. And they are still working on it, mind you. 1.3.1 had huge performance improvements.

The reason there is lag right now on some bukkit server is because of the new way chat is handled and bukkit hadn't properly changed it. Every plugin that modifies chat will need to be modified for the new Minecraft chat.

Same here. Is it just me, or did the older version generate better worlds. I still have an old world from Beta 1.1 that I play on sometimes.

They also need to bring back three things:

    Sponges
    Clickable TNT
    Dirt Slab

EDIT: Now I want 1.7.3, where can I get the client? Also, can I get on your 1.7.3 server when you set it up?

I disliked all the beta gens until 1.8. Before 1.8 biomes were these teeny tines circles that repeated awfully. Every server looked the same.

Alpha gens are still the best in my opinion. Large biomes in 1.3 make it feel like the 1.8beta lands is finally done being polished.

Wish I could help I have my world files from back then but nothing else.

Wow, there's people out there that dislike the hunger bar? I thought that was a great addition. Makes parkour and exploring much easier.....

I probably have 1.7.3 on my old computer but I don't see the point connecting it and giving it to you.

Have you even tested the hunger bar? Or were you one of those that were freaking out about how you won't be able to go afk without dying.

And...far lands was a left behind bug that the community for some reason was obsessed with. It wasn't that interesting.
    But yes, the end sucks.

Yeah I see what you mean. 1.3.1 had quite a bunch of issues, but it's not too bad now. I'm frequently updating my own server and seeing a lot of improvement (craftbukkit dev). With that in mind, no MC launch has been flawless so far, but to my knowledge, no release had an update the same day either (1.3 release date aug. 1. and 1.3.1 release date aug. 1.)

I'm glad it's improving so fast, and my main issue is indeed with butkkit. You can't have a good server (public) without bukkit. Sadly. :C

Well you could use either MCNostalgia or MCDowngrader (I think that's what it's called). I've even set up my own serve for 1.7.3 with a post about this stuff, but I'm not going to perform some cheap self-promoting stunt here. I'm not even sure if it's allowed (bukkit forum TOS).

I can give you the links to everything you need if you get stuck, but I'm sure you can Google your way to either MCN or MCD without any problems at all. :)

    Thanks!

I love the old Minecraft. New one have great stuff, but the half is not need (for me) and the half of that half is stupid and unwanted features.
In my opinion, new generator is way more repetitive than old one. The old one had height variation (real one), better oceans (I mean, new ones are cool, but doesn't make anything and are just space spam; would be cool to have "something" there, but no), biome transition, biome cohesion, tree variation, etc.

I can support some new features that I don't like at the cost of use features that I do like, but really want a better terrain generator, 1.3.1 singleplayer with no bugs (like 1.2.5) and LESS lag.

Excuse me @lukegb, may i have bukkit for 1.7.3? It'd be useful to be able to develop plugins that work for 1.7.3.
