Hello, i am a server admin and i request plugins. I think i already requested 4 times.

All of that plugins are paid, i mean, i give the dev payment to appreciate his hardwork.

When the monetary offers still allowed, it was easy. I posted the plugin i want, listed the payment, and then devs will start PMing me.

But now because monnetary offer is not allowed again, the dev can't even know how much i will pay.

So they must pm me, and i replied with the payment.

I think it will be nice if you allow the monnetary offers again. I don't see any damage that it could cause.

Spout forum has monetary offers on their marketplace and it seems to be going well.

And bukkit, when monnetary offers still allowed i don't see any problems with that.

Circumventing our monetary offers rules with PMs is not allowed either ;)

We don't want to deal with the drama involved, period.

what drama can be caused by offering monnetary offers ? I don't see any drama when bukkit still allowed it.

kaskus.co.id, largest forum in my country, TONS of people doing monnetary offers and it has no problem

spout.org, people offering monnetary offers and even jobs, no problem

Official xenforo forums, people doing monnetary offers for developing addons and themes, and no problems too

What is the problem with monnetary offers ?

Just because other places can do it without issue, doesn't mean everyone can. And even then, your comparison to those other forums isn't really that fair, Bukkit is quite different from all those forums you listed.

We just don't want to have to handle repercussions of having monetary offers flowing through us: it's risk avoidance. You may not like it, but it isn't fair to blame us for wanting to shut off an avenue of risk to the community.

It sounds to me like you already have places you go to when you want to handle with monetary offers, so use those. Please respect our decision to not allow such things here, even if you don't like it.

Why pay for something in a project that the people are doing free?

I've coded ONCE for money, and I will never do it again.

The issues that were caused because people were unhappy at first with the work, needed changes, and were getting angry despite the fact that I was already helping them fix an issue were way too much. Under normal circumstances, I would have removed myself from the situation but because it was a monetary issue I was unable to do so. Things on a much smaller scale cause issues with the staff, and monetary things even more so. None of the staff should have to deal with that. We all work for free here.

As for the issue with Spout.... well it's a good thing we don't do everything Spout does. That's all I have to say on that topic.

Offering a "donation" in exchange for them making a plugin for you sounds like contracting to get work done to me. Giving it a different word doesn't change what it is.

Donations would involve money, and hence monetary offer so hence still falls under the rule.

What drama? You don't have to track requests. If there is problem it is between requester <-> coder, not requester <-> Bukkit <-> coder.
Just add "Bukkit team is not responsible for any problems with paid requests"

It unfortunately doesn't work like that. Just saying we aren't responsible doesn't remove all responsibilities from us. Bukkit is our domain and we need to manage what happens on it. Monetary offers can be done off site, you just need to know where to look and where to advertise yourself.

On a related note, please report any BukkitDev conversations you get with advertisements or offers to pay. The policy extends to both the forums and BukkitDev.

Are we allowed to put a donation button on plugin pages on the forums?
    It's completely optional to donate; I don't see how it's a problem.

    that is allowed for sure!

But if you request a plugin and say "I'll give you a donation", it is forbidden!

What @manniL said. Just like there is a donate feature on BukkitDev that is totally passive, there's not an issue in putting a donation link on the forums. The only issue is when people try to circumvent the system by demanding a "donation" in return for code. (Or anything else, for that matter. No monetary offers does not only apply to code)

What...? I said rules against monetary offers do not only apply to code. Meaning that if you are making monetary offers for anything on the site in exchange for something, it is against the rules.

Why are you asking the staff how to work around our policies?

Feel free to pay people and get paid, just don't say you will or make any offers on our websites, by means of posts, comments, PMs, what have you.

I always thought it was a pretty dumb policy. Then again, I guess enough stupid people have migrated from MC Forums to here that we need those kinds of protections from swindlers. :/

    Pick one:
    A) Bukkit doesn't trust it's users to be mature individuals.
    B) Bukkit doesn't want to update it's simple Terms page with non-liability information.
    C) Bukkit does actually allow monetary related adverts, but only if you're a server host or an established individual (McMa etc).
    D) They got too many messages about money when it was happening, IE see (A).

These are a few reasons off the top of my head that I could think of as to why it's still not allowed.

yeah, what is the problem with adding that "bukkit does not responsible for any transaction"

me, myself on my forum which is minecraft server forum, people do monnetary offers for real stuffs (not plugins or game items), and so far theres no problem

in the terms i added :

"My server do not responsible for any transactions, my website only a media to advertise"

Because the bukkit staff still have to get involved with the personal issues that arise when things get out of hand. Allowing it on our site means we endorse it to a certain extent.
