Recommended build 1.3.1 still overloading and lagging when 1.2.5 was not. I had recently upgraded server hardware and internet connection thereby eliminating lag on version 1.2.5, so I know it should not be lagging especially with a fraction of the players on, but it is. There is very consistent lag and overload messages about every minute give or take 20 seconds. This should be called beta until it is fixed.
Is it only overloaded every 45 seconds, or is the message only generated every 45 seonds? Everyone is complaining that there is a chat delay. There is a several seconds delay between when something is entered and when it appears.
It's terrible that they released that junk build. So terrible and I have no idea what they are thinking, thumbs down to bukkit on that one.
I have 0 problems, most-likely it's one of your chat plugins causing it or you're using either ptweaks or nolagg.
I don't think so. Yesterday my server was going well without any delay. Today I made a new sever with less plugins, fresh databases and It laggs/overdloads the server. I also recive strange consol exception and I don't know what does it mean. It appears when anyone logs in the server. http://pastebin.com/auTEn7WK It couldn't be the plugin problem.
com.alecgorge.minecraft.jsonapi.JSONAPI$JSONAPIPlayerListener That's seems like a plugin. Don't know which...
I'm less willing to absolve Bukkit. I have a physical and a virtual test server I play with, and both have been struggling with Bukkit since the 131 updates, running with minimal (eg 1-4) plugins using the latest dev builds. That's with just me and a few testers on. Even if the plugins themselves are generating new lag, Bukkit is the API they use, and so indirectly it's still a Bukkit problem that didn't exist before. Making framework changes and then retroactively blaming developers is basically modeling your development life cycle after Internet Explorer.
What's wrong with IE? It runs well and it's not slow.... jokes aside, I run a 1.3 with about 30 plugins, 3+ of those using the Asyncplayerchatevent and it's the same speed as before with 10+ players on. I updated yesterday with the RB.
To be fair, a lot of the lag can probably be solved by educating developers on how to update (not fix) their plugins to be compatible with the new Bukkit versions. The thing is, the developers didn't do anything wrong, this is Bukkit changing not them, so you can hardly blame them for not keeping up with the mostly unannounced and unexplained changes to the API. A majority of the developers probably aren't even sure if their plugins are disrupting servers or not. @ZachBoro You've seen the async thread, half the devs are upset about the change, and the other half don't seem to know what it means; meanwhile the announcement for 1.3.1 essentially promised* plugins would be up to date. I just have a hard time blaming developers and not Bukkit for this mess. *
Yeah about that announcement, I did reply to that thread but EvilSeph didn't seem to have seen my post. I'm part of the developers that weren't sure how to deal with this new change. I did what I could, and it doesn't seem to cause lag on my server. For all I know it could be specific popular plugins that I am not using that causes the lag others are experiencing.
