Although people have already been under the impression that we pledged to keep hMod up to date, this isn't the case. Prior to this announcement, we had not stated anywhere that we would be maintaining hMod and anyone believing otherwise was mistaken. However, we do recognise the predicament we've put server admins in as hey0 has announced that hMod is essentially no more, and Bukkit is not ready for public consumption yet.

As such, some of us - if not the entire team - will be trying to update hMod so that you guys aren't left in the dark without a server mod to use. We never intended to shut everyone out with our early announcement - we were just looking to drum up support from plugin authors so that we had things ready. We can honestly say that we did not anticipate the project blowing up with this much activity and interest this quickly, like it did.

    Once again:
We will try and update hMod (at least this time), but we offer ABSOLUTELY NO promises that we'll be able to do it as a lot has changed and we are no longer as familiar with the project as we once were.

    UPDATE:
We've tried fixing hMod but had little to no luck. It's way too messy to work on and too much has changed in the last few Minecraft updates.

Sorry guys, but we tried :(. We kept running into issues and have been at it all day. It's time we call it quits and focus on Bukkit instead.

Just a question EvilSeph, where will you guys be posting the hmod update and the bukkit software? I want to just be prepared an not search for hours xD. This information will be much appreciated.

You also know we bought the game, and would like a stable something to run our servers on and not have our users feel angry or insecure.

    Is he enforcing it?
No. So why does that rule even matter?
Oh and the server software is free anyways... we just want previous builds he doesn't offer, so his users will offer it in any way possible.

So this really seems like an annoying question to be asking, but do you have an estimated date of when hMod *might* be fixed by? I've read and understand that it's not your responsability though, so if it isn't updated by the Bukket team then I'll be looking over to see if it's fixed here until Bukkit is released whenever it's stable.

Do keep in mind however that 'kMod' (hMod being fixed by external source) isn't exactly up and running at the moment as there's still some errors. It's also not recommended that you run it with your hMod map when you do first try out a stable release of it as it could corrupt it. But if it is fully fixed and functional then I'm sure it'll be fine and you'll be able to re-run it with the map that you were running before hMod support cut out the other day.

I'm really hoping either kMod will be able to be stable, or someone else will be able to re-compile hMod themselves without it being too complicated.

I am however really looking forward to any stable releases of Bukkit as well and being done with hMod altogether and finally being able to switch.

I'm not complaining, hMod's wiki was completely disorganized and didn't work on my linux machine anyway.

For everyone here who is having problems, I would try and find a way to downgrade back to 1.1_02 (right?)
Find the old server files (won't provide it due to copyright) and then find some way to get your hand on the old patch. Talk with your friends and members. Someone will have one, if not both the things I listed.

My server is up and going fine. Everyones happy. Just wait for the "Bukkit of a thousand truths" to come out. Hopefully it wont be via USB lol.... (South Park Joke)

Sort of ironic considering CraftBukkit redistributes minecraft_server.jar code completely decompiled and recompiled. That's just as much violating his copyright, no? Thus no links to it should be permitted either, by your logic.

And EvilSeph, why did you even post this topic? Seemed pointless to try to stir up interest. You only should've posted this had the team successfuly updated it. Just gave them false hope.

Glad some of you Finally are letting go of hMod, Some peoplejust cant or wont let go... If you think ur favorite plugins will never work again then.. you should talk to the Creator/Coder and Kindly Ask them if they will be updating to Bukkit.

I thank Hey0 for his plugin and recently Closed Forums,
Also I thank Bukkit for imforming us wat is going on and keeping up the good work.

I think this is the best route. Better to focus your time and energy on Bukkit rather than trying to recompile an abandoned plugin.

Good news! Now we can expect Bukkit sooner. Less time wasted on a project not of high priority.

Thanks for trying to update hmod, but I'm glad your back to working on Bukkit. However, I would feel much more comfortable if we had any kind of time frame for the Bukkit release. Are we talking a week? a month?

Some kind of general answer to the ETA questions would be appreciated as I could save some money by closing my server until I have a ~stable mod platform if it's going to be longer than a week or two.

I understand that I could continue to run hmod 133 on the last server update, but too many people will not figure out how to mod their client. I'd rather save some money taking the server off line when my users will see it that way anyway.

Again, thanks for all you do for our community. I'm sure you can understand the issues us server owners are facing. A headache for everyone!
