    The community is turning faces away and picking on smaller plugin developers lately. I want to look at this forum at a whole new perspective.

    _=[ The Alleger Side ]=_

    No kidding, I saw this many times, however, the person who posts this has no edvience whatsoever, so the trolls.

    _=[ The Plugin Dev Bully ]=_

    This has been happening to me. Developers are insulting that I do not have enough knowledge. Think again. Like always, there's someone brilliant locked in every user. That's true. One, I think my mind is swapping changes all the time. One minute I want to make a game, one minute I'm not. Just remember that.

    _=[ Lazy Staffs ]=_

    These staffs never care to step into hostile situations, therefore does nothing but mass-infraction fun. Don't give me an infraction for this, but I have a point. These staffs must be actively on.

    _=[ Bystanders ]=_

    They do nothing.

    Right now, the Bukkit community needs to shape up, get rid of trolls, and get rid of some users. Like this post if you agree with my perspective.

    This thread does reflect some trolls and people. Take this seriously.

    I have to say, this is just going to get trolled harder and start a flame war. If people want to troll, ignore them and let them troll.
    If people bully, just stand up in that thread for the other people.
    I respect this post but I am worried of the amount of trollspam/anger that will happen here.
    Nice thought though :)

    If people just helped others and were nice, we wouldn't have problems.

    very true. but to warn you they may give you an infraction for this. ive seen other posts similar to this in the past get slammed. the funny thing was i thought the leaders of bukkit were young kids, may 15-18 years old but when i saw the image of them at a convention i laughed my ass off. there actually in their 20's LOL. The forums have been going down hill since the release of minecraft 1.4, for some reason everyone has a chip on there shoulders and the mods/admins/etc have seem to slowly die away. there never on. if anything they come on at like 5pm * my time* and stay on for maybe 30 min if that.

    see thats the F*in thing we cant speak anymore without getting into a F*in "flame war" this trolling / flaming crap is got to stop. but what can i say? im not the admin nor moderator. the admins/mods will just sit there and watch lol. its like a hockey fight they just wait till someone gives up. then they come on high and mighty like they mean something (LOL!).

    sometimes, when it seems like the whole entire world is against you, its because you are pissing them all off. you stick out like a sore thumb around here for making problems. here you are again, blaming the users, devs and staff because people pick on you. this is known as 'drama'. if you say something dumb, and someone calls you on it, whos fault is it? i can think of no other user currently active on this forum with a track record like yours. i only just took notice of you recently, and in the last few weeks: i have seen at least two server admins call you out for causing them problems. i have seen you get mad at someone for quoting you saying something stupid. i have seen you 'quit bukkit forever' then come back a few days later and act like nothing happened. i have seen you berate a guy for asking a noob question, and then turn around and ask one yourself, and you didnt even thank the guy who took the time to help you. the list goes on and on. if you want me to go find the posts in your post history and link to them for proof, just let me know.

    this is a large public forum with tons of users. lots of people read everything you say here.

    I used to participate at other modding forums for other games, and they had much stricter rules than Bukkit has. I'd really like to see them adopted and applied. For example, this is cut and paste from the Civilization4 forum rules:
    At least some of these would be very helpful, I get sick of people name calling, etc. What is this, kindergarten?

    @undeadmach1ne You just protest on every thread I made. GTFO.

    @Afforess It looks like you have a point. Everyone runs around insulting the developers.

    Well I even see other developers treating users and other dev's like jerks too. Other forums have a zero tolerance of personal attacks (You can attack an idea, call x,y,z stupid, but not call a person stupid), and that worked pretty well.

    @Afforess True. I'll give you an example of a troll: "Nellers". She follows me everywhere and tells people I'm an immature child. I'm 14. I'm not immature. She would fall under "The Alleger" category.

    To be fair, some of your posts, such as the first one make you sound immature. I don't mean to sound mean or anything. I completely understand what you are talking about in the thread but you'd get hated less if you ignore those type of posts instead of telling them to GTFO.

    I feel it to be slightly offensive that you would call us lazy, especially when we handle submissions and the like. Whilst I can see where you are coming from, as occasionally we see a thread too late or an argument isn't stopped by a staff member, but we aren't lazy. It's also known for a verbal warning to be given before an infraction (with exceptions), but I have also seen cases of this happening, and can assure you that we'll work on this.

    Could you expand on what you mean by "These staffs must be actively on."?

    Thanks for the feedback so far, we appreciate it

    Agreeing with Archelaus
    These Mods do their work Voluntarily and get no real-life gain out of it, except self-gain. They are not getting paid, and have no obligation to be on 24-7 365 days a year. They are on enough, and do a great job browsing forums, submissions and bukkitdev. Theres no use mooing over something thats fine, they do a great job.

    no i meant the first part that was in broken english and didnt make sense, not the gtfo. this will suffice as a perfect example of what i was talking about though, so in a way i guess i should say thanks. ill gtfo of your thread now and i promise to try to ignore you in the future. i beseech you to try to do the same for me.

    I really have to disagree with this. You consider making a full-blown game in Java, then ask how to heal a player? How are we supposed to take you seriously when you put yourself in this position?
    Also, take a look at this. It's not the developers being bullies, it's the soon-to-be developers that are well, becoming stupider. There's no other way I can put it.

    i apologize. i was simply trying to express to him that trolling people and acting the way he regularly acts is what is causing the 'bullying' and disrespect he is complaining about, and that thinking about what he says before he says it would remedy the problem for him and the rest of us as well.

    I am a massive civ4 fan and I can testify its got a few forums that truly are a beacon in maturity. On the other hand, interestingly all the "old" strat games with "outdated, harsh" rules seem to be pretty healthy community wise. Perhaps the team could try going non-bs for a while.

    (I wrote two full pages on community management but decided to keep them away last minute)

    I miss Drakia's criticisms; they actually had merit. :'(

    Also, I don't get why everyone complains about the community. I have never had a problem with pretty much anyone besides that chernobyl kid, who just generally bugged me.

    I had a problem with chernobyl and now Jaker because them complaining is like the pot calling the kettle black. Their arguments have no merit and they come off as people who have yet to mature. I don't mind people who have different opinions than mine, but when you start throwing personal attacks and tossing out questionable information, I lose respect for you.

    Also, I lol'ed @andrewkm

    Don't expect too much out of this place. The laxed rules have slowly become the new standard.

    Had Drakia or Afforess or any other outstanding people with reason been running this place, it would be quite different than its current state.

    I have yet to see a large community staffed with competent people or populated with people who are mature enough to engross themselves in meaningful discussion.

    Minecraft appeals to kids, so we get kids all over the forum who want the plugin developer tag for making a damn TNT blocking plugin. They then bitch about being bitched at and we end up with OP here.

    This is what really annoys me. The people who trumpet that it is their first plugin as if it is an excuse to submit a plugin that is the same as lots of others or is particularly sloppy.
    And then they get all riled up if you say anything that isn't positive, even if it is constructive.

    I retract my statement. I have seen forums catered to older audiences (such as car forums, sailing forums, etc.) being more reasonable than said game forums.

    Let's hope this isn't how they deal with their bosses when they work @ whatever job they will be working at when they're older.
