Getting Blocks Near by

How would i get blocks in an x radius of a player ?

What i'm trying to do is player types /sample, it counts how many times they have done this, and the more they do it, the deeper it goes. Then it would respond saying:
"Iron: 5, Gold:0, Diamond: 0, Coal: 12"

 

you need to get an cuboid, and you need to cound how manny those blocks there are, I cant give you code now, because I lost this example from my code database

I still need a way to do this, haven't figured this out

Line 37 of the code loops through the blocks in the predefined radius and gets the relative blocks in relation to the player's location. All you have to do is change the inner code to one that adds the blocks to a list. Check it out first and if you're unclear on what I did, feel free to ask.
