Open Written Book

Is it possible to make a player open a written book? Like, without them actually having it?
I wanted it to be like, the player right clicks on the sign, he sees more info in the book.
Is this possible?

 

I remember reading a post that deemed it impossible to do in vanilla Minecraft, but I could be mistaken. If there is a way, I'm not aware of it.

I would think so, as you can have a book open without having it in your inventory.

 

(I haven't revalidated this since books came out, not sure if it was changed.)
Basically what AngryNerd said. Opening the book GUI is entirely client-side. No packets are sent for right-clicking with a written book, so you can't send any to make an own one appear.

 

Hm. Possibly on right click event, save item in hand, replace with book, switch it to old item?
